SPECIAL EVENTS PRESENTS

KERENSA GRAY AND THE KGJAZZ TRIO

Special Events is pleased to present Kerensa Gray and the KGJazz Trio in a concert featuring jazz, blues, and gospel selections on Sunday, October 22, 2017, at 3:00 PM in the church nave.  There is no admission charge for the concert.  Free will donations will be accepted.  Twentieth Annual Billie Holiday Vocal Competition winner Kerensa Gray is often compared to the likes of jazz royalty - Etta James and Ella Fitzgerald and contemporaries such as Diana Krall.  As a gifted songwriter, this dynamic vocalist brings fresh insight and infectious energy to her approach of beloved classics and a transparency in her songwriting that speaks to that for which we all yearn - truth without compromise.  Kerensa’s music finds balance in her ability to skillfully interweave melodies of jazz, blues and folk music into a sound that is undeniably and uniquely her while her talent as a gifted vocalist unearths yet unseen perspectives into the standards that are the soundtracks to our lives.

COME ENJOY JAZZ & BLUES ON A BEAUTIFUL FALL AFTERNOON!

Sermon Theme

posted Aug 1, 2017, 9:26 AM by St. Paul UMC Church   [ updated Oct 6, 2017, 6:40 AM ]

October we begin a series on The GOOD News. We will explore the central 5 components of the Good news and then move to Tools to sharing the Good News in November. Our advent series (Thanksgiving to Christmas Eve) will focus on the “Gifts of Christmas”. These are the gifts God gives to us as affirmed through the sending of Jesus to us.

In the month of July we heard Pastor John’s favorite Bible verses.  Now he would like to hear from us to help prepare our worship times this fall.  Please write a note, email or leave a phone message as to a Sermon Theme idea you have.  As you prepare to invite friends and family to worship this fall, what theme would you like the scripture/sermon to touch upon?  Our December theme will culminate on Dec 24th as we celebrate the coming of Christ into the world.  (Note: Dec 24th is on a Sunday so we will have services at 8:15; 9:45; 11:00am and our traditional Christmas Eve services of 5:00, 7:00 and 10:00pm.

8:15 am Traditional Sunday am worship

9:45 am  Praise Service in Family Life Center

11:00 am A special daytime Christmas Eve worship! This daytime service will be similar to our Christmas Eve style of worship and will allow daytime drivers to share the joy of Christmas Eve.

5:00 pm Children/Family Christmas Eve in Sanctuary

7:00 pm Praise Christmas Eve in FLC

10:00 pm Traditional Christmas Eve in Sanctuary

Upcoming Dates

posted Aug 1, 2017, 9:25 AM by St. Paul UMC Church

The Administrative Council met on July 19th. At that time the Council affirmed Youth Sunday to be held on August 20th at the 11:00 am service (this will not be a combined service day). The Council began plans for Christmas! December 24th is on Sunday this year. We will have our 3 services Sunday morning. As a special celebration we will have a Christmas Eve style worship service at the 11:00 am service. This will allow any who prefer not to drive at night to celebrate Christmas Eve together. We will continue to have our regular Christmas Eve Services at 5:00, 7:00, and 10:00 pm that night. Finally, the Wednesday Evening Meal planners/coordinators are stepping down. Those who are interested in this Wednesday evening meal and are willing to provide leadership to renew this ministry please see Pastor John or Ken Poper.
