Sermon Series

posted Oct 2, 2019, 9:06 AM by St. Paul UMC Church

During October, we will be exploring the scriptural understandings of the human condition. We will explore images of body, heart, mind, and spirit from a Biblical perspective. Though we often divide ourselves into component parts, the great revelation of the Word of God is how we are more than the sum of our parts. The title of this series is "Delightfully Designed" and it would be wonderful to invite those who struggle with esteem issues, body image issues, anxiety and fear challenges, and those trapped in grief. Indeed all who are held hostage by addictions, their own minds, or emotional turmoil should find value through this sermon series.

Sermon Titles

October 6, 2019   Delightfully Designed Bodies

October 13, 2019 Delightfully Designed Hearts

October 20, 2019 Delightfully Designed Minds

October 27, 2019 Delightfully Designed Spirits (just in time for Halloween!)

                                                            MANOR WINDS CONCERT

                                                            OCTOBER 6 AT 3:00 PM

St. Paul Special Events is pleased to welcome the Manor Winds Quintet for a concert of classical selections on Sunday, October 6, at 3:00 PM in the nave. There is no admission charged.  A free will offering will be taken.

A Lancaster-based ensemble, Manor Winds is comprised of five musicians who come together to rehearse in an historic farmhouse on Manor Street in Lancaster, PA.  Since their formation in the spring of 2016, they have given over 40 performances throughout southeastern Pennsylvania.  At home in both traditional and non-traditional settings, Manor Winds strives for professional performances of both standard and modern wind quintet repertoire.  Built upon friendships developed in the freelancing community, Matthew Angelo (flute), Lauren Fairfull, (oboe), Christy Banks (clarinet), Anne Nye (horn), and Robin Plant (bassoon) believe that quality chamber music should be readily available to the region's diverse population and enjoy sharing their love of music and collaboration with their audiences.   For more information on the group and individual performers, please visit their website at www.manorwinds.com.

Plan to join us for a delightful afternoon of music!

If you love kids and have your clearances, WE WANT YOU!!!  Please speak directly to Cindy or phone/text her at 717-372-8199 if you’d like to serve your church and these precious children in this way.  We have many, many dates where teachers OR helpers are needed.  Please come to room A2 if you want to see the sign up list.  THANK YOU!!!

In the month of October, the children's ministry will be having the "Moo-ve Out Hunger" food drive. Everybody is encouraged to bring in non-perishable items for the food bank and place them in the carts that are normally available on Sundays. So why is there "moo" in the name? If the church as a whole collects 3,500 items throughout the month, Pastor John will kiss a cow at our celebration to be held November 17. More details to come closer to the time! So start bringing in those items and watch our weekly tracker get closer to the goal.

An update for the “Raise The Roof” campaign.

“Raise The Roof” campaign status update:
The congregational interview process has been completed with an enormous amount of input to Rev. Zeiders concerning everyone’s feelings and expectations for the future of the church.  The interview data will be incorporated into a Feasibility Study that will be presented to the congregation.
This past Sunday, Rev. Zeiders made a presentation to all three services explaining the campaign Case For Support and outlining the future steps in the campaign process.
On Sunday, September 15th, Rev. Zeiders will make another presentation during the Sunday services.
The work on the roof has been completed and the final contractor invoices have been submitted for payment.  They will be paid from money already collected for that purpose and by using some other savings funds.  One of the goals of the campaign is to replenish the savings funds used to pay the current invoices.
Future campaign activities include the request for monetary pledges and a campaign celebration event.  Keep watching this newsletter and the Sunday bulletins for updates.
