Commission on Child Advocacy Event

The Susquehanna Conference Commission on Child Advocacy has scheduled a training event for all those who work with children, youth, and their families on Sat. May 12th, at St. Paul UMC, Chambersburg, PA (York District). The event begins with registration at 8:30am and continues until 4:00pm. Registration fee is $30 per person or $25 per person for groups of three or more. This event is vital as we expand our commitment to those young people and their families who live on the margins of our communities and will enrich each congregation’s outreach. Registration cards are available through the church office or online at www.eventbrite.com, search “Child Advocacy Training IV”. Registration deadline is May 2nd. For more information or questions, contact Rev. Dr. Ed Zeiders at 814-308-3343 or ezeiders@zoominternet.net.

Christian Education opportunities

posted Mar 22, 2018, 6:25 AM by St. Paul UMC Church

Looking to get involved and learn more.  St. Paul offers a large variety of Christian Education opportunities and will be setting up more for our members and visitors.

On Sundays at 9:45am

The Hoover and Open Door classes have merged.  They meet in room A-1 and study from a book called Upper Room Disciplines.  The class is a discussion format.

Our children from ages 3 – 5th grade meet and study the Bible through the Whirl curriculum.  All ages meet in Room A-2 and then separate into other rooms depending on their age.

Youth ages 6th – 12th grade meet for Sunday School with our Youth Director Sammy Bradley.  This group meets in the Youth Room.

Our Children enjoy a second hour of study, through stories and activities in room A-2.

Adults enjoy a new Bible Study group that has formed in the Library.  The group studies various topics, changing every 6 weeks.

The youth get together for fun, games and deep study on various topics in the Youth Room.

The Children get together for Kids for Christ, and learn Bible stories, through games, crafts and discussion in A2.

Adults enjoy another new Bible Study group that is focused on Parenting in the Christian world in the Nursery, so little ones can play during the parents discussion.

Throughout the Week:

We also offer a Share group that meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month. They meet at 10:00am in the Parlor, and study in a discussion format, based on the book they are reading.

As the year progresses, we will be looking at starting small group studies in the church and in people’s homes.  If you are interested in getting involved or even hosting one of these groups, please contact Bill Klebe, our Director of Discipleship.  billklebe@gmail.com, or 717-267-3085.

Sermon Series

posted Mar 14, 2018, 7:44 AM by St. Paul UMC Church

Summer Sermon Series

The summer of 2018 looks to be an engaging time of worship here at St. Paul United Methodist Church! The Summer Sermon Series will be “Reality Based Faith”. These services will be a time when we openly, faithfully, and scripturally address the questions, concerns, doubts, and wonders of our faith in Christ. This will help us then share with others who have such questions of faith with honesty, integrity, and clarity.

This sermon series is also exciting in that we get to help create the series! Please share questions of faith that you have or that others have presented to you. For example, we briefly touched upon the question,  “Do you really think you can talk to God and that God talks to you?” in a previous worship service. So, talk to others and see what questions or issues they have with Christianity. Email those questions to jkratz@susumc.org or write them out and place them in the offering plate or Pastor John’s mail slot. Thank you for helping to make this summer an exciting time of having a reality-based faith.

Share Group

posted Dec 6, 2017, 6:25 AM by St. Paul UMC Church

Share Group that meets in the Parlor on the second and fourth Wednesdays at 10 to 11:15 a.m. will be starting a new book study on January 10, 2018. Study of the book by Leo F. Buscaglia, Loving Each Other, The Challenge of Human Relationships, will be led by Kathy Debrick. “This is a book about love, tenderness, compassion, caring, sharing, and relating – the most vital of human behaviors.” This study is appropriate for any individual who just wants to consider appreciating or improving any relationship important to them and also for couples in any relationship. Love is a great commandment to all Christians, and therefore the first mention in this book. but so many meanings are applied to how we consider behaviors in our relationships, the author helps sort out meaning for those aspects that may be misunderstood or confusing to those we do love.

Books are provided, so stop in at the office to sign up, or notify Kathy Debrick at  To quote the author, “It’s up to us to give our relationships a chance. There is nothing greater in life than loving another and being loved in return, for loving is the ultimate of experiences.”
